Steps In Creating A Book

Initial conversation to scope the project:  We start by having a talk about your book concept to see what you want to accomplish.

Client interviews to organize content:  We move on to a series of interviews so we can gather all the necessary facts. Interviews can be done by phone or Zoom. If local to The Right Words, interviews can be conducted in person.

**Outline and timeline:** We organize all the interviews and written material to produce a working outline for the book. At this stage, you will learn how much time and effort will be needed to turn your idea into a finished book.

**Write, get feedback, and revise:** As we finish each chapter, you’ll get the chance to review it and offer feedback. Based on your comments, the materials will be revised until you’re satisfied with the result.

**Publish the book:** Once the manuscript is complete, you can either take over the publishing process yourself or let us handle formatting, cover design, and management of the ebook and/or printing process.

**How long does it take to write and publish a book?**
That depends on how much of it has already been written. Starting from scratch, a 50,000-word book usually takes three to six months to complete. That’s roughly 250 billable hours of work.

**Do I need to have my manuscript completed ahead of time?**
You don’t need a finished manuscript to get started. We can create a book starting at any stage, even if it’s only an idea in your head.

**Do you handle book proposals?**
Yes. Assuming you already have some content ready, we can craft a proposal for you.

**Will you only take nonfiction projects?**
For ghostwriting projects, we only take nonfiction subjects. For editing, we will also work on fiction books.

**Do you receive author credit for my book?**
No, the ghostwriter’s name is not identified with the project. You will be listed as the book’s author.

**Do I retain the copyright for my book?**
Yes, the rights and the royalties belong entirely to you.

How is billing and payment handled?
You will receive a monthly invoice for hours worked. Payment is handled through PayPal, and charges are based on the rate you initially negotiated with us.
